When it comes to your job search, your resume is a vital step in your road to success. Another important part is the interview. We know firsthand, and from working with our clients, that this can often be a daunting and overwhelming part of the process.
For the month of February, we will be discussing tips and advice to help ease your mind when it comes time for your interview.
Whether you have been out of work due to the pandemic, or craving a career change, it is always a good idea to stay on top of industry trends. Keeping in mind what questions might be asked during your interview, is the best way to prepare.
One question you have likely heard, no matter when your last interview took place, is: Why do you want to work here? If you pause before reading further, what do you think your answer would be? Would you highlight the reasons why this position is important to you? Would you express why you are an ideal candidate? Would you be sure to mention your goals and what you hope to achieve in the position?
When answering this question, use it as an opportunity to express not only what YOU want, but also what you can contribute to the organization you are applying for. To successfully answer this question, you need to do some research! Read about the company and their mission statement. If you know someone within the company, reach out to them to see if they can provide you with additional information. You can prepare in advance to ensure you interview in a way that best aligns your beliefs and goals with the organization. Answering this question successfully will help separate you from other candidates and leave a lasting impression on the interviewer.
